Hello friends!
It’s been a while. This is my first post since the pandemic hit. While my family and I have all be healthy, my creativity was diminished for some reason, and my focus was lost. I have been doing some writing in the mean time, in bits and pieces. More on that later.
2020 started off with a bang. We went to three cons in January and February and sold out twice. There were events scheduled for every month, and things looked good. In anticipation, I orders stock of all our titles, commissioned and a new ecommerce website, engaged in a Website Traffic Optimization project, and some other things.
Then everything was halted, except these expenses. It wasn’t a problem at first, until the 0% APR period on the new business credit cards I got expired, and suddenly there was a lot of debt!
I started up as a Professional Game Master with Zero Session. I ran a couple of games for a couple of bucks, but eventually the venture floundered and is now on hiatus. I also became a Commissioned Notary Public and Notary Signing Agent. This is a bit more lucrative, but I’ve only been at it since April.
In short, I have spent the last 15 months in my house, with the exception of an excursion to New Jersey for Christmas. I laid out almost 200 miniatures to paint, but never had the inspiration to do it. I gained weight, my belly grew, and my back hurts at times.
As far as my writing goes, there has been little or now progress on the final Anna Rykov story. I’ve lost my steam on that front. However, I have drafted two new novels. These stories are set in a modern, industrial, city of Dylath-Leen (from the Dreamlands of H.P. Lovecraft). The city-state is governed by a shadow government for the alien Overlords, whose methods and goals are unknown to the citizenry
My protagonist is Lazarus Balthezar Nodens, Larry for short, and Inspector with the Criminal Investigations Division. He leads a squad of detectives charged with determining whether dead bodies found in the city are the result alien predators known as Ravagers that have randomly appeared since the coming of the Overlords, or if they were committed by people. In the latter case, Larry’s team is charged with catching the culprits.
That’s enough for now. I hope to have both of these published by the end of the year.
