I wish you all a happy and healthy holiday and new year!
This is truly a fevered ranting this time as I have been sick with a fever for a week now. But I expect to make a full recovery before you know it.
I relaunched the Utgarda Trilogy with new covers and online promotions last week.
The Old Man’s Request Kindle version was free November 18th through Thanksgiving, then the price rose to 99¢ and will remain at this level until Tuesday, November 27th.
I think the promotion has been successful. As you can see, I got all the way to #2 among the free Historical Mystery titles on the Amazon Kindle store and 97 overall.
There were 3,373 downloads while the book was free! That’s pretty huge!
The paid sales have been far less dramatic (9 at the time of this writing), and 303 pages read from the Kindle Unlimited and Kindle Owners’ Lending Library, but there are still three three days left in the promotion.
If you look at the numbers, it seems pretty poor. 42,714th in the Kindle Store. But when you consider how many million books are in the Kindle Store, that’s pretty amazing. and 405 out of more than 14,000 books in the Kindle Store : Kindle eBooks : Mystery, Thriller & Suspense : Mystery : Historical. Who could ask for anything more?
I would also like thank all of you who posted reviews of The Old Man’s Request. I’m sure your input was appreciated by those who took a look at it.
Things in General
I haven’t made nearly as much progress on the next two books (still titles Utgarda #5 and Utgarda #6), but I pledge to complete both of them before the end of 2019. I plan to release #5 in the March timeframe, and #6 probably in the fall. At the time of this writing, Utgarda #5 is at 9500 words and on Chapter 7.
Sales were down this year as well, though it was not my fault. Three of the conventions I have regularly attended had lower attendance on account of competing conventions at the same time or within a week or two before them. Still, I met a lot of nice people and spoke with other authors who were both receptive and encouraging.
I also appeared in three podcasts this year. If you want to give a listen, here are the links.
- I did an interview with Paul Brodie for the Get Published Podcast You can hear it here.
- I was interviewed by Chris Ryan for his podcast Tell the Damn Story.
- THREE GREAT THINGS ABOUT COSMIC HORROR with Joab Stieglitz is an interview I did at Pulpfest 2017 that was not released until this year.
I’m getting tired now, so I had better get some rest.
Happy Holidays everyone!!!
